At Kite at The Red Hart, we understand the importance of honouring and remembering loved ones. Our warm and welcoming venue provides a comforting space to gather with family and friends during difficult times.

We aim to provide a compassionate, professional service helping to plan your funeral reception. Our 16th century pub is the perfect venue for a wake in Hitchin, with a range of spaces and packages designed to create a respectful atmosphere for reflecting and sharing memories.

WHAT WE OFFER

Two flexible spaces for your needs:

Full Venue Hire (50-100 guests)
Exclusive use of our 16th century pub including bar area, restaurant space and beer garden for complete privacy.

  • Available Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays, 11am - 5pm

  • Hire fee: £400 | Minimum spend: £2,000

  • Unlimited tea and coffee at £5 per person

  • Disabled access available

Marshall Room Hire (20-60 guests)
Our beautiful first-floor function space with private bar, bathroom and cloakroom for more intimate gatherings.

  • Available Wednesdays, Thursdays or Fridays, 11am - 5pm

  • Hire fee: £200 | Minimum spend: £750

  • Unlimited tea and coffee at £5 per person

  • Please note: no disabled access to this room

Catering: The Kite Grazing Table
Our signature grazing table features homemade treats including pork pies, sausage rolls, artisan cheeses, cured meats, fresh quiche, antipasti, and homemade desserts. The menu changes seasonally and can be adapted for any dietary requirements.

Additional facilities:

  • Nearby parking at Portmill or St Mary's car parks (5-minute walk, free after 6pm)

  • 15-minute walk from Hitchin train station

  • Historic 16th century setting in the heart of Hitchin
