We cater for every type of function at Kite, from birthday parties and anniversaries, to hen dos and baby showers. Private venue hire is our speciality and we’re dedicated to making sure your event goes off with a bang! You’ll find more information on our dedicated room hire and packages below the enquiry form.
Booking Your Event
We recommend booking 8-12 weeks in advance for weekend dates, though midweek availability is often more flexible. Hire fees are payable via BACS transfer to secure your date and are non-refundable. A 12.5% service charge applies to all food and drink for private dining only. To get started, just fill out the enquiry form below.

The Marshall Room
A hidden gem on the first floor of our pub, our function space, The Marshall Room, is available for exclusive hire daytime or evening for up to 60 guests. This large and opulent room, featuring original oak beams from the 16th century, is complete with a private bar, bathroom and cloakroom transforms to host birthday parties, daytime celebrations, business meetings, wakes and more.
The Marshall Room - What's Included
The Marshall Room features its own private bar serving craft cocktails, premium spirits, and our curated wine list. The space includes a dedicated cloakroom and bathroom facilities for your guests' convenience. We can arrange the room in multiple configurations: banquet-style seating for intimate dinners (25-35 guests), or standing reception layout for drinks parties (30-60 guests). The room's opulent dark green walls and statement gold mirror create an elegant backdrop, whilst our licensed sound system means you can add your own playlist or hire a DJ.
The Stretch Tent
Perfect larger groups, our heated stretch tent is also available for private hire. This area at the top of our courtyard is ideal for large groups up to 100 who want to wine, dine and party outside from day to night. We have a range of packages from outdoor dining to pop-up bars.
The Kite Stretch Tent - Perfect for Outdoor Celebrations
Located in our courtyard garden, the stretch tent is fully covered and heated, making it ideal for year-round events. We set up a pop-up bar serving Prosecco, craft beers, and wines. The tent accommodates 30-100 guests standing and creates a relaxed, festival-style atmosphere. Due to licensing restrictions, the tent operates background music only (single PA speaker or acoustic musician without drums), and closes at 10pm midweek, 11pm Friday/Saturday, and 6pm Sunday.

The Kite is an incredibly well run, beautiful and welcoming venue - the staff looked after our booking from the outset to tailor a menu that was exactly to our taste, creating a table plan, and even asking us for music preferences so we could set the tone for the evening.
The food and drinks were spectacular, and great value for money, and the pub itself is a beautiful spot right in the heart of Hitchin.
We had a few speeches over dinner, which the team very kindly (without us needing to ask) turning the music down whilst people stood up - a very classy touch.
As a bonus, the room had air conditioning on what was one of the hottest days of the year!

“Booked the Marshall Room upstairs for a private event (pre-wedding family dinner/drinks). Ben and his team were incredibly efficient at organising the event, the process was so straight forward and smooth. The upstairs bar was staffed for our guests all night. The food (we opted for grazing platter) was amazing quality and went down so well with everyone, and we were even given takeaway boxes for guests to take home the leftovers.
The team were completely open and flexible to my requests. We were able to put up our own decorations (only a few personal touches were needed as the room was already decorated beautifully when we arrived). We were able to make adjustments to the grazing platter menu.
Overall it was a memorable evening for all of us. My partner and I had already eaten at Kite before so knew how great the food and service was before this event, but this exceeded all we could have possibly hoped for. Thank you to Ben and everyone involved!”

As well as knowing them quite well and having a sentimental connection to the venue, we knew we wanted to book them for our wedding for the incredible food and brilliant service, and they absolutely nailed it!
