Valentines at Kite
Valentine’s at Kite at The Red Hart 💘
This Valentine’s weekend, we’re serving something a little special at Kite. Join us on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th February and celebrate with a romantic menu designed with two in mind.
Start things off with fresh natural oysters. For the main event, our Venison Wellington for two is made to be shared – served with boulangère potatoes, smoked purple sprouting broccoli, miso butter confit January king cabbage. Finish on a sweet note with white chocolate and raspberry parfait, with aerated white chocolate, raspberry and shortbread crumb. Menu below.
You’re welcome to order from this Valentine’s menu alongside our regular menu, so there’s something for everyone.
Please note: our usual Friday set menu will not be available on Friday 13th February.

Christmas officially starts in a couple of weeks with the lights switch on in the town square. Come on down to Kite afterwards for a cosy pub to warm up in and the perfect start to the festive season.
We have tables available to book in the restaurant from 6pm-8.45pm, mulled wine in the bar, and live music at 8pm with the fantastic Bradley Martin playing a whole bunch of festive and fabulous acoustic covers.

Halloween Disco at Kite
Right folks, for the first time since 2020 halloween is (basically) on a weekend which means we can properly celebrate all things spooky for once!
That means, obviously, getting our favourite DJ Kenzie in the house to spin up some spooktacular tunes.
He’ll be playing in the bar from 8pm and it’s free entry.

Halloween Fiim Night: The Shining
Halloween Cinema Screen at Kite - The Shining
Join us on Thursday 30th October, for a special Halloween screening of Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining.
As the weather cools and the nights draw in, we’ll transform The Marshall Room into a cinema to kick off spooky season with a horror masterpiece.
Guests will be able to settle in with a beer or seasonal cocktail and popcorn is included with your ticket! If you’d like to enjoy dinner with us, we advise booking a table in the bar or restaurant beforehand.

If you’re a local parent looking to get out and socialise over a glass of wine this is the event for you. Grapes and Babes is a wine tasting where it’s BYOB - bring your own baby!
You’ll try 4 different wines, informally presented with breaks for changing, feeding and chatting. We will have some light nibbles to snack on, with the option to order more substantial food from our menu as well.
G&B in September will be solely focused on wine made in England!
If the weather is good enough we’ll hold this in our stretch tent outdoors so you can enjoy the weather, but will most likely be held in the bar space now we are into Autumn.

As parents, we understand that sometimes things change quickly where kids are concerned but as we have to order food and wine we kindly request at least 24 hours notice when cancelling or transferring.

The Kite Dog Show
THE KITE DOG SHOW RETURNS FOR ANOTHER YEAR 🐩
On Monday August 25th we’ll be open from 12pm, with the dog show award ceremony taking place at 2pm.
Entry to the dog show is £5 per dog, and includes a raffle ticket entry too. All proceeds from this will be donated to The Dogs Trust.

Do I need a ticket?
No, all dog entries are paid for on the day
How do I enter my dog into the dog show?
Registration is open from 12pm-1.30pm on the day. Just bring your dog and get signed up. It is £5 per category, with a maximum of 2 categories per dog.
Will there be food available?
Just crisps, nuts and olives
What is the plan if it is hot?
The dog show will be held in the shade under our stretch tent, and we will have a hydration station on the day
How long does the dog show run?
The show is from 2pm until 4/4:30pm

August Bank Holiday Weekend
Coming up this bank holiday weekend we have a live DJ set in the garden on both Saturday and Sunday, followed by our annual DOG SHOW on the Monday! Music is free entry both days. The Dog Show is £5 per entry (includes a raffle ticket) with all proceeds from entries going to the Dogs Trust charity.

Bucklersbury Day 2025
Hitchin, Saddle Up - We're Going Wild West! Bucklersbury is being transformed into a Wild West frontier for one fun-filled day! Expect hay bales, toe-tapping country music, and themed activities for the whole family.
What's Happening:
- Western Street Dressing: Hay bales, bunting, barrels, and saloon-style setups at venues throughout the street
