A warm pub. Copious amounts of Guinness. Live music. Is St. Patricks Day the best day after Christmas, or is it better?

A tough call but we’re putting it to the test next month as we celebrate St Paddy in the only appropriate manner, serving up all of the above!

Seeing as we’re normally closed on a Sunday evening we’ve got live music on the night before - Saturday 16th March. The Thumping Tommys will be turning up with a raucous mix of a range of Irish, folk, classic country and Blues.

No reservations, no entry fee, just turn up and enjoy!

It’s that time of the year once more when you need to take some time, a day perhaps, to celebrate a very very special lady.

What better way to do it than taking her out for what is arguably the best roast dinner in Hertfordshire. We certainly think of it in those terms.

Join us for the start of the holiday season on November 18 when the lights go up on the Christmas tree in the town square. We’ll be on hand afterwards with a toasty pub, hot mulled wine, and a live set from the extraordinarily talented Nell King from 8pm.

No entry fee, just come in, enjoy the warm atmosphere and a beer or two with us before winter really kicks in.

In September we’re changing our usual wine tasting + tasting menu formula to make space for an event we’re incredibly excited to host.

You may not know it, but just outside Hitchin lies one of the UK’s most intriguing beer projects: Crossover Blendery.

Founded by George and Charlie in 2018, Crossover Blendery is focused on producing complex beers which challenge and intrigue the drinker. The beers age in old French oak barrels for many years. And the fermentations are spontaneous, meaning it is only wild yeast and bacteria which operate in these ales. Many of their beers are also then blended with British fruit in the final stages.

Having more in common with natural wine than your traditional pint of pale ale, this is a night both for the beer aficionados and anyone who open to trying something new, and exciting, and very much local.

DJ Riot Girl comes to Kite for one night in August.

A resident DJ at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s, DJ Riot Girl will be spinning up an eclectic mix of funk, soul, rare groove, soulful house, latin and afrobeat on the decks.

From 8pm.

Kite’s Wine Tasting & Tasting Menu event returns in July with a focus on all things summery 🍓☀️

Our bi-monthly tasting menu and wine tasting features a custom 5-course tasting menu from our head chef Olly Varney, paired with 5 unique fine wines sourced from a variety of regions around the globe by our main man and all round wine expert Jamie Ellis. Jamie will be on hand to guide you through the wines on the night and have fun tasting them all.

Hobo Chic returns to Kite on Saturday evening performing his eclectic mix of loop pedal covers. In his own words:

I’m a live loop pedal artist, did I mention that yet?

What does that mean? I play loads of instruments, sing, and lay down my own versions of your favourite songs. It’s full of vocal percussion, keys and guitars, and loads more noise than any other one-man-band can make. Scrap that, than many bands can make. I’m kind of producing tracks live and on the fly. 

But what tracks? A genre list can be so limiting, but let’s try, yeah? My song list / inspirations/ references, range from: Pop, Funk, HipHop, Soul, Acoustic, and Reggae.

I always come back to this though.. Is it awesome music, and does it make you feel or move? Yes? DONE. Let’s do it..

This includes everything from quieter more emotional vocals (think bride walking up the aisle, or a first dance) all the way through to a slamming party (think loud beats, beefy baselines and songs that grab your guests by the balls and get them dancing).

‘EATS & BEATS’
SATURDAY JULY 8

On Saturday July 8 join us on Bucklersbury and Sun Street for a day of music and street food.

We’ll be outside Kite with our street side bar and grill, serving Aperol spritz, draught beer and chicken shawarma (also with veggie options).

The pub will also be open as usual if you fancy booking in for dinner

Not one, not two, but THREE bank holiday weekends coming up next month.

We’ve got a bunch of live music on throughout, and we’re capping it off with our very first DOG SHOW on the final Monday.
